Here at First United Methodist Church of McHenry, we are blessed with a dedicated team of spiritual and administrative leaders who guide our community with faith, wisdom, and compassion.

Each member of our leadership team brings a unique blend of gifts and experiences, united by a common commitment to serve God and our congregation.

Rev. Dr. Steve Bullmer

Head Pastor

Pastor Steve is a retired ordained Elder in the Northern Illinois Conference. He was ordained a Deacon in 1974 and an Elder in 1979. He has served at Rochelle and Baker Memorial: St. Charles
as an Associate Pastor, and as Lead Pastor at Sharon: Plainfield, Emmanuel: Polo, Trinity: Freeport, Lena-Winslow-McConnell Cooperative Parish, Marengo, and Crystal Lake, where he retired
and is currently living.

In retirement he has served as Interim Pastor at Salem: Barrington, Sharon: Plainfield, and the United Protestant Church of Grayslake.

His core values are:

Never settle for less than the best I can do.

Lynn Schnelker

Praise Team Director

Lynn has spent her life singing in church. She finds special joy in helping others find their voices, and welcomes all newcomers to the Praise Team. A retired educator, Lynn enjoys spending time with her grandkids and traveling, in addition to being a “church lady."

Gina Swinney

Lay Leader & Worship Team Chair

Gina has been a member of McHenry First United Methodist Church since 1980. In her time at the church she has served on many committees and participated in many music/theatre opportunities. She currently serves as Worship Team chair and Lay Leader. Gina is a retired educator having served as a teacher and administrator for 34 years. She is married with 2 adult children and 2 grandchildren.
