Active Initiatives
At First United Methodist Church of McHenry, serving the community is central to our mission. Inspired by Jesus’ call to “serve those in need,” we partner with local organizations, provide assistance, and offer hope through food drives, shelter initiatives, and more. Join us as we demonstrate "faith in action" and work together to strengthen our community.
Working with the Unhoused
We believe in the power of generosity to transform lives. Your donation to our Help with the Unhoused fund supports our monthly meals for those living at the year-round shelter, as well as other community needs. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness.
Alcoholic Anonymous Meetings
We are committed to serving our community by providing a safe and supportive space for those seeking recovery. Our AA 12-step groups meet Fridays at 6 PM and Sundays at 7:30 PM, offering hope, healing, and fellowship on the journey to sobriety. All are welcome.
Food for Thought
Our mission is to bring hope and dignity to McHenry High School students in need by discreetly providing additional food support. You can help make a difference! Simply drop off food donations at the church, and the Food for Thought team will ensure it reaches those who need it most.
Adopt a Street Program
We are proud to support McHenry's Adopt-A-Street program by maintaining McCollum Lake Road east of Route 31. Through this volunteer effort, we help keep McHenry clean and inviting, with supplies provided by the City. Together, we can make McHenry a beautiful place to live and thrive!
