Why Worship Matters!" Perhaps we could ask, "Does worship matter?" As we observe the decline in participation in the Sunday gathering, it is clear that many who once gathered on Sunday no longer do. Worship is much more than the Sunday gathering; it is as we gather that we learn and explore what it means and the power we receive when we come into the presence of the living God. Churches, in general, and United Methodists, for sure, have become quite reliant on our analytical/cognitive relationship with God, often missing out on the wonder-filled sense of the holy.
